Originally launched in 1992 under the name Ultimate Star, we gave the Ultimate quite a "make over" a few years ago. Not only did we change some panels on the upper, but we also built a new sole underneath the shoe. This has led to the silhouette being chosen several times by collaboration partners to realize joint projects.
The Ultimate OG, known at the time as the "top running shoe", has an upper material mix of suede on the heel overlay, mesh on the base and soft smooth leather on the mudguard, eyestay, heel underlay and heel tab, the latter of which we have fitted with a small pull tab. Even back then, a sole with our patented Dynacoil cushioning system was fitted under the Ultimate, albeit a different one than today. In a 1992 catalog, DYNACOIL was described as an "energy recycling system [...] for permanent damping of impact forces" - today we use a more modern term. The "stabilization edge", now called "stabilizer", at the transition from the midsole to the upper, which guarantees lateral stability, was also already present on the original sole.
The Ultimate OG Gorp seen here has a breathable mesh lining, an Ortholite insole and an outsole made of abrasion-resistant rubber, in addition to all the things just described.
